Internatinal association of fire and rescue service well known as CTIF(Comité Technique International De Prevention Et DÉxtintion Du Feu) is the most important international organization of fire fighters.CTIF was flunder in 1900 in Paris. According to CTIF regulation can be a member  any country of the world,but must be represented in organization by his own national commitéé. In this time we have 43 members of CTIF, including Czech Republic , that is member  of CTIF from his beginning. Head quarters of CTIF is Paris. CTIFś decision organ are the General Assembly (yearly meeting) and is electing General Secreatary. Every four years is International fire fighters competion from all around the world ( futher only Fire fighters competition). Czech Republic is represented by Czech National Comitéé (further only CNC). Members of CNC are all the most considerable  subjects taking part in fire protection sector. Part of CNC is for example The  Minystry of Interior – General Directorate of Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, Association of Fire Fighters from Czech,Moravian and Silesian region. Director General of Fire Rescue Service of the  Czech Republic  is President of CNC, and it  is given by office and on the base of agreement of  all  members CNC.

In 2000 CTIF approved, that in 2009  Fire fighters competition will be held in the Czech Republic. At the standing council in Varaždin, where, this year in period July 17th – 24th was Fire fighters competition hold, was approved nomination for holding Fire fighters Competition in 2009 in  the City of Ostrava. Ostrava was chosen as the most suitable place for its organization but also technical background.

Fire Fighters Competion is and always was in every country  where took place, taken as a event of international meaning and was hold under patronage of some of the highest national representatives (for example in 1973 in Brno – president of the republic, in 1997 in Dennmark- crown prince Frederic, in 2001 in Finland – president Mrs. Tarija Halonen) and in Varaždin under patronage a personál participation of the Christian prezident.

We are expecting, that this competition will be attended by more than 3.500 participants ( competitors, referees, judges, organization staff and important guests) from 30 countries around the world. Event of such huge range will be possible to used as a promotion of the City of Ostrava and his surroundings, but also whole Czech Republic.
