21. 7. 2009
The youth, voluntary and professional firefighters, and also women will
perspire during planned trainings today. CEZ Arena feasts an extended
Exhibition of nations which was ceremonially opened on Monday evening.
Introduction of nations
Yesterday (20.7. 2009) in the evening hours Introduction of nations took
place in CEZ Arena. The most significant representatives present at the
ceremonial opening were Walter Egger, CTIF president (International Association
of Fire and Rescue Service), Jos Tholl, chairman of Young Firefighters
Commission, CTIF vicepresident, deputy of managing director of Fire rescue
brigade of the Czech Republic for Integrated rescue system and operational
management Col. František Zadina, magistrate of Association of Fire Brigade of
Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia Karel Richter, director of Moravia-Silesian region
Col. Zdeněk Nytra, and others.
Stands of the individual countries offered a medley characterising the
countries. At the stands people tasted various kinds of bread, bonbons, and
sausages. Children in folk costumes handed out stickers, maps, leaflets,
balloons, magazines, and also shells. One of the most visisted stands was
Japanese stand. Young women and men taught their peers to make up origami from
coloured pieces of paper. So we are a step further. We dusted up forgotten
knowledge of geography or we acquired completely new one. Also this is a way to
friendship, understanding, and strengthening of the atmosphere of this
spectacular fire brigade event.
Exhibition of nations can be visited today till 12 o´clock in CEZ Arena. In
the evening hours the nations will also introduce themselves in the Main street
in Poruba. During breaks groups Tam Tam Orchestra and Tam Tam Batucada will
have a performance. Accompanying programme of fire brigade games will be
supported today by an extraleague in fire attack in Vitkovice city stadium
(10.00 – 14.00). Since 14.00 the Main street in Poruba will be crowded by
the youngest fire fighters from the preparatory of Association of Fire Brigade
of Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia and a historical fire brigade technique.
20. 7. 2009
The second day of the fire brigade games which take place in Ostrava was
signed by trainings of all competitors. Accompanying events of the fire brigade
games implied that the games themselves will start soon.
Ceremonial youth camp opening
Today 20Â July 2009Â among morning events in Ostrava International Fire Brigade
Competition it was probably the youth camp opening in the area of schools in
Stredoskolska street that attracted the most attention. However, not less
interesting was competition in disengagement from crashed vehicles in the
premises in front of CEZ Arena. The leading programme were, however,
introductory trainings for which the sportsmen utilised all available area of
Vitkovice stadium.
After 10Â a.m. at the presence of magistrate of SH CMS (Association of fire
brigade of Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia), Karel Richter, and director of HZS
(Fire Rescue Brigade) of Moravia-Silesian region chairman of Young Firefighters
Commission and CTIF vicepresident Jos Toll welcomed more than 600Â participants
of XVII. International Young Firefighters Meeting and expressed his thanks for
perfect preparation of the youth camp to the present leading officials of
voluntary and professional fire fighters.
His words are
confirmed by satisfaction of all children and young fire brigade. We saw smiles
on the faces of Germans, Russians, Portugese, and other nations including the
farthest Japanese. Jos Toll called all of them winners because they had gone
through a fine sieve of qualification in their countries. Their travel to
Ostrava was not easy and in all young fire fighters there is determination to
bring the most valuable prizes from Ostrava.
Disengagement
The best teams in the Czech Republic competing in disengagement of injured
people from crashed vehicles competed in this discipline within the
accompanying programme today. The competition in disengagement took place in
the area in front of CEZ Arena and together eight competing teams changed there
for one another. Under a strict observation of referees and during a limited
period of time the competitors had to disengage the injured from the crashed
vehicle, provide with a pre-medical help, and give the person into the care of
emergency health service. Finally, the referees most appreciated work of the
fire brigade team from FRB (Fire Rescue Brigade) of Moravia-Silesian
region – fire station Trinec, the second position was taken by the team of
Middle Bohemia region – fire station Horovice, and the third position was
winned by FRB of the capital city Prague – fire station 1.
To help flood-stricken people
HZS of Moravia-Silesian region has a stand of prevency-educational activity in
the area of Vitkovice city stadium. In the stand people can find leaflets
giving information about how to behave during evacuation, flood, extraordinary
events, etc. Part of the stand is also a financial gathering which is organized
by the fire brigade together with Czech Red Cross to help the flood-stricken
people who are mostly from the area of Novy Jicin.
